Two people, a young man and woman were on Wednesday charged in a Meru Law court for threatening to kill.

The two, Kennedy Munene and Cynthia Wahito separately pleaded guilty to threatening to kill.

Wahito, who appeared before resident magistrate Lilian Maina said it was true she had threatened to kill Douglas Karani at Makutano area, Meru county.

State Prosecutor Aznah Anyango read the facts being that on June 17, 2025 at Makutano area within Meru, the accused, who was in possession of a Kitchen knife threatened to hack Karani.

The accused, while present before court seemed not remorseful of her acts.

Similarly, Munene pleaded guilty to the offence that was committed on July 17, 2025 at Kabereure area in Nyaki East, North Imenti, Meru County.

The court was told that Munene, while holding a panga went to the home of Lydia Gatwiri and threatened to kill her.

She reported the matter to the police and the accused was arrested.

Munene pleaded with the court to forgive him stating that he was under the influence of alcohol.

The court considered the seriousness of the offences and fined both of the accused persons Sh 50,000 each or to serve a jail term of three months consecutively.
