A Presidential Technical Working Group on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Femicide member Beatrice Karwitha Kiragu has hit out at leaders who she claim are focused on divisive politics.
In her statement, Karwitha said that leaders allied to the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) and are expected for a three day tour of Meru county, are only doing it for selfish interest.
“Let us not be divided on tribal basis. The cousins narrative by some of the leaders should not be taken as a uniting factor. Those using it are doing so for their own political gain that will divide the country ethnically” she said.
However, she welcomed their tour in the region, urging the people of Meru to evaluate the message that will be brought to them and ensure that they make a wise political decision.
In her bid to drum support for deputy President Kithure Kindiki, Karwitha said that Meru community should not accept to be led into opposition.
“We welcome any visitors that will be coming to our county. Let them send out their message but we should not be misled. We need to be in government as we stand an opportunity to have a President after the current regime,” said Karwitha.
She also called for political tolerance in Meru county, urging residents to be patient on completion of stalled projects and fulfilment of Kenya Kwanza government development promises.
“There are several projects that the government has started. Some have stalled among them few roads but with time they will be completed as they have been factored in the budget. Let’s be patient and the services will be delivered” said Karwitha.
Meanwhile, she called for unity among Kenyans citing dependency on each other.
