Tigania West MP George Mutunga has urged residents to throw their weight behind President William Ruto’s re-election bid, praising him as a performer and visionary leader who deserves a second term.
Speaking Saturday 22,at Kirindine after a meeting with community health promoters, Mutunga called for patience, saying the President and his deputy, Kithure Kindiki, had already delivered tangible development across the country.
The lawmaker said President Ruto took over an economy on its knees and had spent the last two years steering it back to stability.
“People don’t know Ruto inherited a government that was grounded financially, but it has taken him a short time to revive it back on track yes we might not be there yet, but trust me, if you give him another term, this country will join others in first-world status.” added Mutunga.
Mutunga cited the affordable housing programme, health reforms and ongoing infrastructure works as among the sectors he believes have seen the most improvement under the Kenya Kwanza administration.

He cautioned locals against being swayed by opposition leaders as the 2027 elections draw near, saying their aim was to mislead and divide communities, particularly in Mt Kenya.
“Don’t fall into the trap of the opposition because they tell too much hate and lies open your eyes and elect leaders based on their track records, not how loudly they shout.”said the Mp.
In a veiled attack on former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his allies, Mutunga accused them of lacking a national agenda and using political fights with the President to advance personal interests.
He warned residents against isolating themselves from government, saying doing so would leave them in a political cold for coming years.
“We are very lucky to have Kindiki near the President. It has become easier for our region to access development many stalled roads are now under construction, we expect a dual carriageway to start soon and other developments are ongoing. That is the advantage of having one of our own there. If we don’t elect him, prepare to be out in the cold politically.” he added.
Mutunga, who is also seeking a third term in 2027, said the constituency had witnessed significant transformation during his tenure.
“I remember when I took over, we were last in education performance in the entire county. Now we are among the top sub-counties I have improved the learning environment and school infrastructure by nearly 60 percent.” he noted .
He said the progress was evidence of what consistent leadership could accomplish and urged voters to evaluate leaders based on impact rather than political rhetoric.

Mutunga was accompanied by Meru Woman Representative Elizabeth Kailemia, who echoed his sentiments and called on residents to support the Kenya Kwanza government to continue benefiting from national development projects.
The leaders also appealed for peace and maturity in local politics as campaigns build up.
“Ignore leaders who incite and fuel division in our county .Many will come and spread lies and hate, but I am calling for peaceful campaigns. Let our track records speak for us and allow the electorate to decide.” said the Mutunga.
