The week-long tournament, which brings together Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) and county staff from across the country, is expected to pump millions into the local economy as hotels, transport operators, traders and entertainment joints anticipate brisk business.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, Meru Governor Isaac Mutuma said hosting the prestigious games was not only an honour but a golden opportunity for the region to showcase its hospitality, culture and economic potential.
“This is a great moment for Meru. Hosting CASA is a chance for us to boost our economy over the next one week and also display the unity, diversity and excellence of our people,” said Mutuma.

Mutuma noted that the choice of Meru as the host county was a vote of confidence and a symbol of unity in devolution.
“This is a good gesture in strengthening county partnerships through sports. Let us play fairly, as one Kenya not as counties or ethnic groups I am deeply honoured to host an event that not only promotes sportsmanship and unity but also strengthens the collaboration among counties.” added Mutuma.
