Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed that the government is commited to support all candidates sponsored by the broad-based coalition in the upcoming by-elections.
Speaking on Friday during the Kasipul Constituency Economic Empowerment Engagement held at Sikri Vocational Training Centre grounds in Oyugis, Homa Bay County, Prof. Kindiki said that the Kenya Kwanza Alliance and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have agreed to jointly back candidates from either party in the forthcoming polls.
“We have all agreed to work together and fully support all our broad-based candidates in the coming by-elections. the agreement signed by President William Ruto and the late ODM leader Raila Odinga has allowed us to support candidates sponsored by either of our parties,” Prof. Kindiki stated.
The by-elections, slated for November 27, will take place in several constituencies including Kasipul, Ugunja, Malava, Mbeere North, Banisa, and Magarini, as well as the Baringo Senate and multiple MCA seats.

The second in command noted that ODM candidates in Kasipul, Ugunja, and Magarini have the full backing of the coalition, while UDA aspirants in Malava, Banisa, Mbeere North, and Baringo will also receive similar support.
“In Kasipul, the ODM candidate, Mr. Boyd Were, is carrying the coalition’s flag. We are one team and here in Kasipul we are fully supporting the ODM candidate. We are also doing the same in Ugunja and Magarini as well as in all the areas where UDA candidates are carrying our flags,” he affirmed.
Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, who also serves as the ODM National Chairperson, echoed Kindiki’s remarks, pledging ODM’s unwavering support for all broad-based candidates in the by-elections.
“In the coming by-elections, we are supporting all the broad-based candidates because we have agreed that we will back all our candidates in the polls adding that ODM will remain in government as guided by the late Raila Odinga,’ she said.
“Baba left us inside the broad-based government. It is where we will remain as the Orange Democratic Movement,” Governor Wanga assured.
DP Kindiki further revealed that the broad-based government led by President Ruto is prioritizing accelerated completion of development projects in Homa Bay and the Nyanza region.
He announced that Sh 2 billion has been allocated to the county for last-mile electricity connections targeting 26,000 households, while Sh15.8 billion has been set aside for the construction of fresh produce and fish markets, affordable housing, and hostels in learning institutions.

Additionally he noted all stalled road projects in the county are being revived, with Sh8.5 billion earmarked for road construction, including the Sikri–Lida Road, which is set to commence soon.
He at the same dismissed premature 2027 election talk, insisting that the government’s current focus remains on service delivery and fulfilling promises made to Kenyans.
“When the time comes, we will be more than ready to showcase our development record. We will present our development record to the people. Do not be misled by those who have nothing to offer,” Prof. Kindiki declared.
