Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has reaffirmed that the government is commited to support all candidates sponsored by the broad-based coalition in the upcoming by-elections.

Speaking on Friday during the Kasipul Constituency Economic Empowerment Engagement held at Sikri Vocational Training Centre grounds in Oyugis, Homa Bay County, Prof. Kindiki said that the Kenya Kwanza Alliance and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have agreed to jointly back candidates from either party in the forthcoming polls.

The by-elections, slated for November 27, will take place in several constituencies including Kasipul, Ugunja, Malava, Mbeere North, Banisa, and Magarini, as well as the Baringo Senate and multiple MCA seats.

The second in command noted that ODM candidates in Kasipul, Ugunja, and Magarini have the full backing of the coalition, while UDA aspirants in Malava, Banisa, Mbeere North, and Baringo will also receive similar support.

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, who also serves as the ODM National Chairperson, echoed Kindiki’s remarks, pledging ODM’s unwavering support for all broad-based candidates in the by-elections.

“In the coming by-elections, we are supporting all the broad-based candidates because we have agreed that we will back all our candidates in the polls adding that ODM will remain in government as guided by the late Raila Odinga,’ she said.

DP Kindiki further revealed that the broad-based government led by President Ruto is prioritizing accelerated completion of development projects in Homa Bay and the Nyanza region.

He announced that Sh 2 billion has been allocated to the county for last-mile electricity connections targeting 26,000 households, while Sh15.8 billion has been set aside for the construction of fresh produce and fish markets, affordable housing, and hostels in learning institutions.

Additionally he noted all stalled road projects in the county are being revived, with Sh8.5 billion earmarked for road construction, including the Sikri–Lida Road, which is set to commence soon.

He at the same dismissed premature 2027 election talk, insisting that the government’s current focus remains on service delivery and fulfilling promises made to Kenyans.
