Meru Hospice, a charitable non-profit organization dedicated to providing palliative care, is appealing to the public, corporate partners, and local communities to join hands and help funds to cater for cancer patients.
The Meru hospice Coordinator Gladys Mucee has announced the #RunForPalliativeCare Charity Run slated for December 6, 2025, in Meru Town.
The event aims to raise funds for the construction of inpatient wards at the hospice, which will provide essential care for patients with life-limiting illnesses, especially cancer.
According to the organization, the charity run will also help sustain ongoing support for over 520 adult patients and 35 children currently under the hospice’s care.
“After visiting patients in their homes, our team has witnessed firsthand the many challenges they face. Some have no one to take care of, while others rely on caretakers who cannot offer adequate care. That is why the hospice board, staff, and well-wishers came together with a dream to build inpatient wards where we can offer quality palliative care to those in great need,” she said.
The new wards are expected to ease the burden on families struggling to care for loved ones suffering from advanced illnesses.
The facility will provide a safe and compassionate environment where patients can receive round-the-clock support and pain management.
Mucee emphasized that the project relies solely on community goodwill.
“Meru Hospice has no donor. The donor is me and you. We have already raised a little money, but through your support and participation in this charity run, we hope to begin construction early next year,” she noted.
Participants in the charity run will enjoy an opportunity to unwind, improve fitness, and connect with others while contributing to a cause that promises lasting impact.
“Registration costs Ksh 2,000, and each participant will receive a branded T-shirt. Payments can be made via Paybill: 308168, Account: COMPASSION,” Mucee said.
She added:
“This is the charity run where compassion and generosity meet fun and lifelong impact. Together, we can make a difference because they matter too.”
