Amb. Hon. Halima Mucheke has called on Meru leaders to unite behind a common political and economic agenda aimed at advancing the interests of the region while positioning it for greater influence in Kenya’s national leadership.
Mucheke said unity, strategic political engagement and collective bargaining would be essential in ensuring that Meru secures a stronger voice in national affairs as the country looks towards the 2032 General Election.

She has thrown her weight behind Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, whom she described as the region’s preferred candidate to carry the presidential flag in the 2032 presidential race.
“Our own son, H.E. Prof. Kithure Kindiki, should carry the presidential flag in 2032,” Mucheke said, stressing that the ambition could only be realised through strategic alliances, collective resolve and a shared vision among Meru leaders.
She urged leaders to move beyond individual political interests and embrace a united approach that prioritises the region’s long-term political and economic aspirations.

According to Mucheke, the push for Meru’s greater representation in national leadership must be backed by deliberate planning, effective negotiations and partnerships with like-minded leaders from other parts of the country.
“The time to prepare is now. Meru must speak with purpose, negotiate from a position of strength, and confidently pursue its rightful place in Kenya’s national leadership,” she said.
Mucheke’s message underscores the importance of regional unity and strategic coalition-building in shaping Meru’s political future, with the proposed Kindiki presidential bid serving as a rallying point for leaders seeking to strengthen the region’s influence in national decision-making.
Her remarks place emphasis on early political mobilisation, shared leadership ambitions and the need for Meru to approach future national contests with a coordinated strategy that balances regional interests with the broader aspirations of the country.
