Meru Senator Kathuri Murungi has refuted claims that Meru County is shifting its political allegiance to the opposition, arguing that the region’s support for President William Ruto’s administration is intact.

Speaking during a public baraza at Kauthene Grounds in Nyaki West Kathuri called on residents not to abandon the government which has resources for development.

“As a leader from Meru, I cannot abandon the government I supported and voted for without ensuring my community benefits from it,” he said.

Kathuri further dismissed the opposition faction led by the Democratic Change Party (DCP) as having nothing tangible to offer the people of Meru.

Nominated MCA Zipporah Kinya, who is also a farmer, praised President William Ruto’s administration for timely provision of subsidized fertilizers and farm inputs.

She noted that farmers in Meru are now expecting a bumper harvest as a result.

The forum, organized by the office of the Deputy Speaker, aimed to engage local residents on development issues and government service delivery.
