Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has assured Meru and Tharaka Nithi residents that the killer Nithi Bridge funds have been released for site relocation.
Prof Kindiki said the Cabinet has already approved the initial money to undertake construction of the multi-billion Nithi Bridge located a few kilometres from Chuka town along the Meru-Embu-Nairobi highway.
“I am aware Nithi Bridge has been a thorn in the flesh where we have lost so many lives. Good news is that the first installment to pay for the construction of a new bridge has been approved by the Cabinet as per the orders from President William Ruto,” Prof Kindiki said.
The DP spoke at his Irunduni home in Tharaka constituency, Tharaka Nithi County where he engaged with 3500 grassroots leaders including the leadership of farmer groups, women groups and community based groups from all the 9 constituencies of Meru County.
Prof Kindiki said during the last three years, the Government has carried out an impressive fertilizer subsidy program and implemented measures that have resulted in better returns for farmers of tea, coffee, milk and other agricultural value chains.
