The rivalry between Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia and former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi went a notch higher after the later told off his “kinsman” that he is the legitimate county boss.

Mutuma said the former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary is indeed the one who is fake pointing out that Linturi was sacked as Cabinet Secretary because of fake fertilizer scandal.

“He is going round calling me Bonoko (fake). He wants to create a perception that I came to the office through illegitimate means. I want to tell him that he is the one who is fake because he was fired because of selling stone as fertilizer to farmers. I can’t imagine he is the one calling others fake,” Mutuma said.

He advised Linturi, a former Meru senator to stop insults and instead wait to meet him at the polls.

“He said he will squeeze certain parts of my body. I cannot say it in public because he is like my elder brother. I respect him but let him horse his horses,” Mutuma cautioned.

The governor spoke at North Imenti Forest where several Community Forest Associations (CFA) from Meru had met.

Mutuma likened Linturi to the biblical Herod who is after every young leader in Meru.

“He is after me now because am the current governor. If he wants the seat, let him have some respect even if he doesn’t support me,” Mutuma said.

The governor was accompanied by Forestry PS Gitonga Mugambi, nominated MP Dorothy Muthoni and Meru County Women Representative Aspirant Beatrice Karwitha among others.

Mutuma also defended President William Ruto administration record insisting they have initiated several key projects in Meru like the upgrading of Meru Referral Hospital to level six and the construction of Gakoromone modern market among others.

He maintened the Ameru community will not be duped into supporting the opposition because they already have a deputy President in power.

“They say a bird in hand is worth two in the bush. We will not accept to let Kindiki down. We will hold onto him and give him all the support he wants,” Mutuma said.
