Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geofrey Ruku has said that former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua did not deliver any tangible development during his two years in office.
CS Ruku said Gachagua did not have any vision for the country and concentrated on tribal politics.
“I was surprised that he was in Meru a few days ago telling the people of Meru to vote out President William Ruto’s government. Ironically, he was accompanied by former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi who was chased away by President Ruto because of fertilizer scandal,” Ruku said.
The Cabinet Secretary said that both Linturi and Gachagua failed in their mandate and it was hypocritical for them to tell Kenyans that they have something to offer if they form government.
“They are calling themselves United Alternative Government. Let me remind them that they failed Kenya when they were in government. Mithika Linturi is going round and saying he want to be Meru governor. Let me tell him that Meru’s are not stupid to elect him,” said the CS.
Ruku spoke in East African Pentecostal Church (EAPC) in Igoji South Imenti constituency, Meru County on Sunday where he attended a thanks giving service.
He was accompanied by Central Imenti MP Moses Kirima and several Meru MCAs.
Ruku said the trouncing of Gachagua party in Mbeere North parliamentary seat and other wards by-election clearly show that he has no influence or popularity in Mount Kenya region.
“If you are a party leader of a party and you cannot even get one MCA in your region, what kind of a party leader are you,” Ruku quipped.
CS Ruku said Gachagua is on a mission to make the GEMA community hate Kenyans over nothing.
“If he failed to deliver as the President assistant he should not tell the people of Mount Kenya or Kenya how bad the President is. He is the one who is bad,” Ruku said.
Ruku said the President is working round the clock to bring development across the country.
CS Ruku defended Deputy President Kithure Kindiki against attacks from United Opposition saying they should respect him as he is currently the second in command.
“Those who do not respect Kindiki are enemies of the Meru people. So the people of Meru should reject such people,” Ruku said.
Central Imenti MP Kirima Nguchine defended President William Ruto insisting he means good for the Meru community as as he picked Kindiki to be his deputy.
“If you kill a pregnant cow, you will also kill the calf inside. So if you do not vote for President Ruto you are against Kindiki, “Kirima said.
