The Technical Working Group on Gender-Based Violence (GBV), including Femicide, has launched a groundbreaking county level public participation exercise aimed at shaping the future of human rights protections for women and girls in Kenya.

This initiative follows the appointment of the Technical Working Group by President Dr. William Ruto in January this year, a move that signaled national recognition of the urgent need to address the rising cases of GBV and femicide across the country.

The group was tasked with developing comprehensive, people-centered recommendations to prevent violence and strengthen justice systems for survivors.

Across the country, citizens now have an opportunity to raise their voices and contribute to a national effort to curb the growing crisis of GBV and femicide.

This initiative seeks submissions from members of the public on prevailing trends, lived experiences, and community-level realities of gender-based violence.

Importantly, it calls for public input on practical, transformative recommendations that the state can implement to ensure justice, security, and the full enjoyment of rights by all women and girls.

The goal is clear: to craft laws, policies, identify gaps in the legal frameworks in dealing with these cases and support systems that are grounded in the voices of the people they are meant to serve.

Whether you are a survivor, a witness, a community leader, or simply a concerned citizen, your perspective holds the power to shape a safer, more just Kenya.

The public participation forums are scheduled to take place in the 47 counties across the nation.

These sessions will serve as platforms of hope, solidarity, and change.

By engaging, Kenyans become part of a collective movement working to dismantle systems of violence, impunity, and silence.
