President William Ruto and his deputy Kithure Kindiki have pledged to end banditry attacks in Meru.

President Ruto said the same way the government fought against insecurity as we ended insecurity in Lamu, Pokot, Turkana, Marakwet, Samburu and other banditry prone areas, his administration will deal with insecurity to the end in Meru.

“Governor, I have heard you in insecurity, do not succumb to pressure and use Rungus. Leave this to me ,” Ruto said.

Kindiki noted that he is much aware that the insecurity issue has been a thorn in the flesh in Northern Grazing Zones and the government will deal with the menace with the necessary force it requires.

“On insecurity, Mr President, direct us on how you want us to proceed in handling it here and I believe this administration will end this menace. The methods the government used on Boni enclave is the same to be used here to curb and eradicate banditry,” Kindiki said.

The President and his deputy were responding to Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia’s lamentations that banditry and killing of innocent people on the Northern Grazing Zones has become rampant and immediate action must be taken.

They spoke at the Kithaku in Meru during the A.I.P.C.A Church Holy Oil Celebrations on Thursday.

Mutuma said that bodies of three people all National Police Reservists (NPR) killed in a weeks time are lying in the mortuary.

“There is Goliath in terms of cattle rustling in the Meru north region. We are ready to take the matter head on even if it means defending ourselves with Rungus. Meru people don’t fear. The solution to the North Grazing Zones needs a buffer zone especially a conservancy,” Mutuma said.

Ruto thanked the church leadership for ending the wrangles that almost divided the church.

He urged believers to pray for peace and unity in the Country because it is the only way to achieve developments and transform the lives of Kenyans.

“I will do whatever it takes to unite the country and ease the economic burden from Kenyans. All of us can get a chance in this government to move this country forward. Pray that we unify this Country. God is going to command blessing once we are a united nation,” Ruto said.

He noted that his donations to churches will continue despite criticism.
