Former Meru governor Kawira Mwangaza has launched her new party Umoja na Maendeleo Party (UMP) saying that political movement is unstoppable.
Speaking at her Ntumburi residence during the party’s launch that was attended by thousands of residents, Mwangaza said that those that tried to kill her dream will be put to shame.
“The reason as to why we have UMP, is so that we protect the constitution. There is a problem because our constitution is prone to disruption. If the constitution was protected, mama ni governor could not have been impeached. They took advantage of loopholes in the constitution,” said Mwangaza.
She added, “We will all benefit if the constitution is protected. Few people will no longer have time to sit and decide for the majority”

In the party’s second pillar, she said the party will ensure justice for all.
The development agenda takes the third entry in the party, with the grassroot expected to benefit.
“There has been no development taking place especially in the County. Even if listening to the ground is good, as UMP we want to see actual development” she explained.
Reading out the party’s manifesto, the party leader noted that support to the needy in society will be the fourth priority in their schedule.
“As a party, we need to support the less fortunate in society. We shall also support those willing to serve in leadership. Ours will not prioritize financial muscles but look at the leadership skills” noted Mwangaza.
Through the party leadership, Mwangaza said that they are aiming at empowering the community.
“As our slogan, “Utajiri kwa wote”, means we shall empower our community so that they stop depending on handouts,” said Mwangaza.
She added that those that clinched to power through the back door should stop failing the citizens.

The party also outlined plans to field candidates for the forthcoming by elections across the nation.
“We are strong enough and we will field candidates in all the positions for the oncoming by elections. I promise that the nominations will be free and fair in ensuring justice for all, ” promised Mwangaza.
However, she called on the residents to support her party, saying that through the party the country will prosper.
“Our party is our strength. We need to support each other so that we have a big bargaining power from the government” she urged citizens.
