Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has lauded Mt Kenya legislators for what he termed as unwavering support and unity during the fiercely contested Mbeere North by-election.
Hosting the leaders at his Official Residence in Karen, Nairobi on Wednesday, Prof Kindiki said the newly elected MP, Leonard Wamuthende Leo, rode to victory on the back of a coordinated and focused campaign machine driven by Mt Kenya lawmakers.

The meeting, which brought together a strong delegation of MPs from the region, was more of a celebration as it was a moment of reflection on a campaign that the DP said demanded total commitment.
“I thank each and every one of you for the huge contribution you made to ensure our success in the by-election we are ending the year on a high note because you gave everything to ensure we won in Mbeere North.” said Kindiki.
Prof Kindiki, who personally led the UDA campaign team across Mbeere North, said the victory was a clear demonstration of what unity of purpose among elected leaders can achieve.
He praised the MPs for resisting provocations and remaining focused on issue-based messaging even as, he claimed, opponents attempted to drag the campaigns into petty and pointless exchanges.
“Our opponents thought they would overrun us but with your efforts we won decisively because they didn’t have any agenda to tell the people, only insults for anyone they could think of but we refused to be distracted.”he added.

The DP credited the team’s discipline for shaping a persuasive narrative on development, representation, and service delivery messaging that he said resonated deeply across the constituency.
The second in command further lauded Mr Wamuthende for what he termed as strong, consistent and people-centered message that struck a chord with voters.
According to him, the MP-elect’s articulation of local issues and calm approach during heated moments helped solidify support.
“Wamuthende’s political messaging was on point .He spoke to the people and stayed focused on what matters of services, opportunities and development and in the end, that is what won us this seat.”noted Kindiki .
The newly elected MP used the occasion to express gratitude to the Deputy President, saying his entry into the race shifted the political tide and energized the UDA base.
“I thank the DP for turning the tide in our favour before you came, things were really hot. I am humbled by your effort. It was clear that the seat was not only about Mbeere but about Kenya.”said Wamuthende.
He added that the campaign had been intense, unpredictable but ultimately fulfilling.
The newly elect MP however also vowed to focus on service delivering on the promises made to the people during the campaign period.
The MPs present also echoed the sentiments, saying the victory was a testimony to the power of collective effort and the growing trust the region continues to place in the UDA leadership.
Prof Kindiki at the same time urged the lawmakers to carry the same unity into next year’s national agenda, insisting that the government’s development plan required a coordinated, disciplined, and people-first approach.
He noted that the Mbeere North win had energized the ruling party and provided fresh momentum heading into the new political year.
“Mbeere North is a statement that proves that when we unite, stay disciplined, and put the people first, victory is assured.” he added.
