The Meru County Government has introduced a new structured approach to seasonal parking revenue collection.

The bid is aimed at enhancing revenue collection and strengthening its partnership with the transport sector.

The innovative strategy, which targets matatu and taxi operators, is focused to improve compliance, accountability, and efficiency in revenue collection.

In a consultative meeting led by Finance and Economic Planning CECM Monica Kathono, the county government together with transport sector stakeholders discussed the proposal.

She noted that the approach is expected to streamline revenue collection, reduce administrative costs, and increase revenue yields.

“The county government has already recorded significant growth in revenue, with collections increasing from Ksh 16,342,447 in August last year to Ksh 22,722,169 this year. We are now aiming higher,” she noted.
