A cross section of leaders have backed the reelection of President William Ruto and his deputy Kithure Kindiki during the 2027 general election.
They unanimously called for the split of the Mount Kenya region in a bid to allow the Mount Kenya East block chart their own political destiny without unnecessary influence.
Led by the Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku, Igembe Central MP Dan Kiili, Taveta MP John Bwire and nominated MP Dorothy Muthoni they said the Mount Kenya West region risk isolating itself from the rest of the country.
They spoke at Kaweru chiefs camp in Igembe Central constituency, Meru County and later at St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Meru town.
“I urge the Mount Kenya East residents to continue supporting the Kenya Kwanza administration due to it impressive development record. Ensure you reelect President Wiliam Ruto and his Deputy Kindiki during the forth coming elections to enable the duo complete the many viable development projects they have already initiated,” said CS Ruku.
He told off those opposing the Kenya Kwanza government for their own selfish ambitions to brace themselves for a showdown where the current administration will emerge victorious with a resounding win.
He regretted that despite the Mount Kenya West getting the lions share in the government national cake allocation after the 2002 general election they are still opposing current administration.
CS Ruku maintained that the mountain will split and Mount Kenya East will inevitably chart their way forward.
“Many war veteran during the MAU MAU struggle for independence hailed from Mount Kenya East.Many development projects like affordable housing and senior government appointments were given to people from the West,” said the CS.
He questioned why the Mount Kenya West are now united in opposing DP Kindiki who is posed to ascend to the Presidency in 2032 after the expiry of President Ruto term.
“Hatutaki kukuliwa kwa mfuko kama njugu karanga. We are not fools anymore. We will not let you continue enjoying development goodies as we suffer in silence. We no longer care for how long the people from the West will stay in the opposition or who they plan to elect in 2027 general election,” said the CS.
He insisted that when President Ruto was forming the current government many leaders from the Mount Kenya West region were fully involved in planning with many benefiting.
“We can’t continue to be misled by incompetent people like former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his allies. Moving forward we will not accept to follow any political outfit blindly. We shall always prioritize the interest of our people by ensuring they benefit. The former DP was unable to perform when given a chance in leadership,” said the CS.
Expressing similar sentiments, Igembe Central MP Dan Kiili urged Kenyans and specifically Mount Kenya East region to support President Ruto and his DP Kindiki since the two have a proven truck record.
He said other tribes are behind the Kenya Kwanza government noting only Mount Kenya West has defected to the opposition after Gachagua impeachment.
“In order to have a baby, it is mandatory to give marriage top priority. The same logic applies when a credible leader like DP Kindiki wants to elavated and become the Presidency in 2032. We must first get married Politically to President Ruto as we patiently bid for our time to get the ultimate price. We can’t afford to cut off the political radder he is using to ascend,” said MP Kiili.
MP Muthoni urged the residents to continue supporting President Ruto in order to continue enjoying development goodies including roads, electricity and other important infrastructures.
MP Mbwire said the entire coast region is behind the Head of State and his deputy who he described as nationalist unlike many salivating for Presidency seat.
”Why is it only when the Mount Kenya East leaders are elevated to enjoy the national cake some are becoming jealousy of Kindiki. He is humble,a nationalist, hardworking, development conscious and uniting factor. Let President Ruto split the mountain and ensure Kindiki ascends power in 2032. We are fully behind him,” said the Taveta MP.
