Following Deputy President Professor kithure kindiki remarks in Timau market yesterday, Meru County could inevitably become the next political battle grounds for titans both in the government and the opposition.

Without mincing words, the DP vowed to make 20 trips for every one trip the opposition led by the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua makes in the region.

Speaking at Timau market in Buuri constituency during an inspection tour of ongoing projects by the national government, the Deputy President pledged to make it his duty to neutralize all efforts the opposition puts to gain support from the people of Meru County, arguing that they do not stand a chance has they are not qualified to lead.

Emphasising the disqualifications of the opposition, the Deputy President explained that their leadership capabilities between them differ like night and day.

He flaunted his long leadership tenure as a senator, leader of majority, deputy speaker and the Interior Cabinet Secretary, all that span more than 15 years in comparison to Rigathi’s tenure as an MP that lasted for only one parliamentary term.

According to Kindiki, he alone stands a chance as a leader and the rest are mere weak opponents.

During the visit, the Deputy President pledged to be of help to the residents of the County, while still in power rather than waiting for when he is out and coming back to praise himself as the opposition are doing.

“I will be of help to you residence of Timau, now that I’m in power not waiting for when I leave to come back and pretend I am one of you,” said the DP.

The Deputy President also promised to help the residents from villages in Timau such as Gichagi, Mukuri, Kongoni, Riverside,Kwa Joshua and Kairiri, who have lived in the lands without their title deeds, noting that this was the right time to implement that, while still in power.

Kindiki urged the residents to support President William Ruto bid to vie for another term in 2027, noting that the later is prepared to support him in 2032 after the incumbent President leaves office.
