Morocco are the only African team that will play in the Quarter finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

This is after Egypt suffered a heartbreaking defeat to one of the title favourite team Argentina just a few minutes before the final whistle of the thriller.

Morocco who comfortably defeated one of the trio hosts Canada 3-0 in Round of 16 will face France tomorrow at 1pm Kenyan time.

Egypt who nearly qualified for the quarters but were unable to defend their two goal lead with less than half an hour to regular time failed to defend to allow Argentina to win 3-2 in the round of 16 game yesterday.

The lack of concentration has been a major undoing to most African teams.

In the round of 32, Senegal who led 2-0 against Belgium lost 3-2, DR Congo who were leading against England lost 2-1 while Ivory Coast who led against Norway lost 2-1 to Cape Verde.

On Friday Spain will play Belgium at 11 pm Kenyan Time.

They were the first African country to qualify directly in 1970 when they returned in1986 and became the first African Country to qualify for the round of 16.

Morocco who are 2022 World Cup Semi finalists became the first African country to do so.

Morocco has had a managerial change over with only a few months to the world cup after coach Walid Regrarui resigned after a dramatic Afcon Final where they lost to Senegal on penalties.

They appointed Coach Mohamed Ouahbi with only a few months to the World Cup.

Morocco who were targeting at least Quarter finals will leave their heads held high even if they loose to France.
