Musicians, actors and comedians from Maua, Meru County will now record their songs and content with ease after securing Sh1 million grant from Sportpesa.

Maua Talanta Studio was crowned Eastern Region Gold Winners under SportPesa talent promotion initiative dubbed ‘Tujiamini’

The studio is based in Nyambene region and is known for producing a lot of talented musicians, comedians and actors.

The artists who will benefit from the studio include Mayuda, Muchina, MC Laingo, Karimi Bruno among others.

Founded in 2017, Maua Talanta Studio began as a vision to give local creatives access to quality production services without the burden of traveling to Meru Town or Nairobi.

Registered as a Self-Help Group in 2018, the team faced challenges such as lack of equipment, studio space, and funding.

“In June 2025, the group learned about the SportPesa’s Tujiamini initiative, a program that supports grassroots talent with funding and visibility and took a chance by sharing their story. Their dream resonated, earning them the Gold Award and the resources to transform their studio.” SportPesa said in a statement.

Flanklin Mutunga said he learnt of Tujiamini initiative through Facebook and decided to try after realising that SportPesa sponsors local talents including sports and arts and talents.

“I applied after seeing a local football team benefit. We have been having challenges in our studio. We did not have quality cameras, instruments and quality machines for production,” he said.

He said they have been having challenges pushing their content to be played especially on the national platform because of low quality.

With the Sh1 million funding, Maua Talanta Studio acquired modern band equipment, a professional video camera, drone, streaming tools, DJ academy gear, and a complete sound system.

This upgrade has turned the studio into a thriving creative hub, attracting artists from as far as Samburu, Marsabit, and beyond, as well as CBC schools seeking hands-on learning for students.

“At SportPesa, we believe in empowering communities through Tujiamini. Maua Talanta’s story is a powerful example of how opportunity can unlock potential and create lasting impact,” said Debrah Maina, Tujiamini representative.

Tujiamini is SportPesa’s Sh30 million annual initiative that supports talents, sports, and community projects across Kenya.

Having already covered four regions and currently running its campaign in Nairobi, Tujiamini invites all Kenyans to apply.

Categories include the Gold Award Sh1,000,000 for community-based projects, Silver Award Sh300,000 for sports and non-sports talents), Bronze Award Sh500,000 for small businesses and young talents, and Cheza Dimba Sponsorship Sh250,000 annually for three years for male category, Sh50,000 one-off for female category to support grassroot football teams participating in Regional and below leagues registered with Football Kenya Federation.
