Needy students in Meru County can now access weekly bursary awards thanks to Bob Mwiti Foundation, a charitable organization founded by entrepreneur Bob Mwiti.
Mwiti, who is based in Florida, United States of America, is also the founder and director of International Scholars Program, an edtech company that assists graduates access masters education in the US.
Bob Mwiti Foundation, which is based in Meru town, recently introduced the Stars Award, terming it “a life changing program designed to uplift needy and brilliant high school students in Kenya”.
“Every week, one deserving high school student from an administrative Ward in Meru County will receive Sh20,000 to support their education,” he stated.
Mwiti added, “At Bob Mwiti Foundation, we believe that talent, ambition, and determination should never be dimmed by financial hardship and this award aims to shine a light on the brightest stars among us. Under our pilot phase, we will begin with high school students from Meru County, as we lay the foundation for a program that will soon grow to reach students across the nation.”
To qualify, for the weekly bursary, a student must have completed at least one term in high school and be from a needy family background.
The beneficiary must also have a scored minimum B- (minus) aggregate in their most recent exams.
Applications are to be done through a compelling essay explaining why one deserves the award and submitted through the Bob Mwiti Foundation website.
