North Imenti MP Rahim Dawood has scoffed at critics of President William Ruto.
Dawood said former deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is a pathological liar who has nothing to offer to Kenyans.
“At one time he said his mother is from Kibichia and recently he was confused and said his mother was from Maua. Let him stop seeking sympathy through lies. I wonder about those who are telling Ruto to go, where do they want him to go? They are already defeated.” he said.
Speaking while issuing bursaries worth more than 30million in his constituency, Dawood said the opposition is already split on who is to be the flag bearer between Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Fred Matiang’i and Gachagua.
He called Gachagua to desist his attacks on Meru MPs accusing him of being a stumbling block to the development projects in the County when he was deputy President.
“When we gave Gachagua a list of development projects for fast tracking, he was skeptical and none could reach the President. How did his leadership benefit the Meru community?” Dawood said.
Dawood told off Senate aspirant Mugambi Imanyara and former agriculture CS Mithika Linturi, noting that the President assured them funds have been set aside to complete stalled projects.
These include road network, electricity connection, water supply, markets construction for their produce among others.
“I heard Mugambi Imanyara claiming Meru leaders went to the statehouse to pass time. He was not at the Statehouse to dispute that leaders lobbied for development projects.
Kenyans should not be lied to by propagandists. In my constituency alone, Sh5.8billion has been set aside for road projects. I am very hopeful the President will implement the promises he made before 2027,” he said.
Dawood urged members of the public to come out in large numbers on Monday and Tuesday during public participation for their views to be captured on whether NC-CDF should be abolished or be retained by Members of parliament.
He added that there will be public participation on Ward funds, pension funds for women representatives, Ngaaf and senate oversight funds allocations.
Dawood said the President also agreed to build a State lounge in Meru, and expand the Gakoromone market at a cost of Sh700million among others.
“The state lounge will create employment opportunities. We also demand an Airstrip next to the State lounge to ease transportation of Miraa,” he said.
Dawood said there was also an assurance that the Lamu border will be opened to boostmiraa trade.
On insecurity, he said Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia has signed a memorandum between the Kenya Defence Forces to create a buffer zone through conducting their training at the Northern Grazing Zones prone to bandits.
Dawood said Kenyans should not compare the 2025 Finance Bill to the 2024 document which led to countrywide protest and later shot down by the President.
