Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has dismissed speculation about his political future, affirming his commitment to service and development in his docket.
He said he remains firmly focused on executing his constitutional mandate as he supports William Ruto in pursuit of a second term ahead of the next General Election.
Speaking on Sunday at Kariene town in Central Imenti Constituency, the DP said he remains firmly focused on executing his constitutional mandate as he supports President Ruto in pursuit of a second term tenure ahead of the next general election.
“I am the Deputy President. This seat is going nowhere. When we are done with the second term we will progress ahead in search for the higher office,” Kindiki noted.
The second in command made the remarks after attending the Induction and Installation Service of Bishop Doreen Mwathe as Bishop of Abothuguchi Synod of the Methodist Church of Kenya in Kirigara, Central Imenti, Meru County.
Prof. Kindiki described himself as a seasoned politician who understands the dynamics of leadership, noting that his priority remains service delivery rather than political rhetoric.
“As a veteran politician, we know when to talk, when to do politics and when to work for the people. I will not be engaging in idle talk every day because we have a lot to do for the people,” he said.
He emphasized that his current focus is on accelerating development and ensuring the timely completion of ongoing government projects to improve livelihoods.
“It is about what you have done for the people because at the end it will be what you delivered to them,” he added.
The Deputy President noted that several major projects in Meru County are progressing steadily and are scheduled for completion before the next elections.
These include multiple road projects currently under construction, the upgrading of Meru Referral Hospital to Level 6 status, and the upcoming redesign of Nithi Bridge.
He also highlighted the ongoing construction of Gakoromone Modern Market in Meru town, which is set to become the largest market in the country upon completion adding Mariene University in Central Imenti has been earmarked for completion.
At the same time Prof. Kindiki said key government policies are beginning to yield results, citing reduced fuel prices and improved macro-economic indicators as evidence of a stabilizing economy.
“The petrol prices have come down by four shillings. The prices have been reducing since 2022 because of the interventions by the President,” he said.
The Deputy President was accompanied by Meru Governor Mutuma M’ithingia, his deputy Linda Kiome, Central Imenti MP Kirima Ngucine, Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi, County Assembly Speaker Ayub Bundi, Members of the County Assembly, and other local leaders.
