President William Ruto has assented to the County Allocation of revenue bill, 2025 and the County Public Finance laws (amendment) bill, 2023.
The bill that was sponsored by Meru senator Kathuri Murungi provides room for the establishment of a County Assembly Fund in the 47 Counties.
“We have increased the equitable share of revenue to KSh 415 billion for our 47 counties, about KSh 30 billion more from the previous financial year’s KSh 387 billion”,said President Ruto at State Lodge, Homa Bay.
He added, “The significant increase in the funds underpins our commitment to mobilising more resources to support devolution and boost service delivery to the people at the grassroots”.
On his part, Kathuri who was in attendance said,“This is a milestone to all the 47 County Assemblies. We look forward to more developments in our counties”.

Taking it to social media, Meru residents applauded Senator Murungi for the initiative, saying that the move is timely when the country is marking 12 years of devolution.
“It’s a tremendous achievement for the County Assemblies in the entire Republic. Hon Kathuri Murungi will go down in history having brought smiles to MCA’s who will be serving County Assemblies in Kenya for this positive impact……” read a post on the Meru progressive wall.
