Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has fiercely fired at his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, promising to confront him “head-on” and trash his petty and juvenile theatrics.
Taking to his social media accounts, Prof Kindiki delivered a fiery statement, clearly directed at Gachagua and his allies in the Democratic for Citizen Party (DCP).
He accused the group of engaging in shallow political games and attempting to derail the government’s focus on development and service delivery.
“Mr. Trap Man, your brief and scandalous political life has been sustained through shallow threats, hubris, pride, and incompetence I will still find time to face you head-on,” said Kindiki.
The attack marks an escalation of raising political temperatures between two key political figures from the Mt. Kenya region with Kindiki accusing the team of being tribal and enemies of country progress.
“You are naively mistaken if you think we are cowards. We will continue to focus on the important duty of building Kenya as is required of us by our responsibilities but again we are ready for you and you will see dust when time comes ,” Kindiki said in an earlier meeting in Meru.
Kindiki’s remarks have sent strong signals to his critics that is no longer willing to stay silent in the face of growing opposition, especially from within his regional base.
The DP who has maintained a relatively quiet and professional demeanor since joining Ruto’s inner circle, may now be preparing for a more active political role.
Kindiki, who succeeded Gachagua as Deputy President under President William Ruto’s administration, now finds himself under increasing pressure from Gachagua’s DCP faction, which has openly questioned his loyalty and political ambitions.

The political confrontation reached fever- pitch during a three-day tour by the DCP team in Meru County, where Gachagua and former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi accused Kindiki of betraying the Mt. Kenya region.
Linturi, now the DCP’s National Organizing Secretary, warned Kindiki that he was being used as a political pawn by President Ruto and would be cast aside before the 2027 general election.
“The mountain is gone We have already rolled up our sleeves. If you do not see it or believe it, just wait and see. Kenyans are tired with your government and we are ready to take you home and save kenya ,” said Linturi in a church service.
Gachagua, echoing these sentiments, accused Kindiki and Ruto’s administration of failing to address the real needs of Kenyans.
He warned of a sweeping political shake-up that would begin in Mt. Kenya and ripple across the country.
Meanwhile, Gachagua appears to be building momentum from the grassroots, leveraging dissatisfaction over government performance and regional grievances to mount a renewed campaign.
