Police officers in Meru County have come out with guns blazing and cautioned residents against participating in the planned peaceful demonstrations slated for this Thursday.

Meru County Police Commander Moses Mutesya warned of dire consequences against anybody found flouting the directive.

Speaking at the Meru County government headquarters, Mutesya vowed to ensure suspects are arrested and prosecuted.

“The job of a police officer is to ensure that laws are complied to the letter. This is why I am cautioning the Meru residents against participating in the planned demos because culprits will be arrested and prosecuted,” said Mutesya

The police boss instead advised the locals to ensure they safeguard their property and shun from taking the law into their own hands.

He strongly warned those still hell bent on participating or interfering with the demos of quick and decisive action against them insisting they will all face the full force of the law.

On the new miraa act that is meant to address the challenges that have plagued the sector for a long time, Mutesya promised to work harmoniously with all the miraa stakeholders in a bid to streamline the sector.

He said they are already working seamlessly with others in the sector to ensure miraa transportation follow the law especially in the designated stops.
