Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi and Deputy President’s head of protocol, Gideon Kimathi have publicly rallied the Meru community to back Deputy President Kithure Kindiki for the presidency come 2032.
The two leaders spoke on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Mikinduri market where they said the region’s political future lies firmly with the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Aburi spoke when he donated a new school bus to St Massimo Day Secondary.

Addressing the parents and residents they urged residents to support President Ruto’s re-election bid in 2027 as a pathway to securing the presidency for a Meru region in the next election cycle.
The legislature told the gathering that continued support for President Ruto would guarantee sustained development in Tigania and the larger Meru region, arguing that loyalty to the current administration would position the community for presidency come 2032.
“We must first support President Ruto for a second term so that development continues flowing to our region. When 2032 comes, we shall be firmly behind Deputy President Kindiki for the presidency,” he noted.
The MP expressed confidence that both President Ruto and his deputy would emerge victorious in the next general election, noting that the Kenya Kwanza government had laid a strong foundation through numerous ongoing development projects.
“President Ruto and Deputy President Kindiki will be on the ballot and I am confident that they will win the next general election,” he added.
Mr Aburi warned residents against being swayed by opposition leaders, accusing them of lacking a clear agenda for the country.

He claimed the opposition was only interested in sowing division, particularly within the Mt Kenya region.
“The opposition has no agenda for this nation. They are only focused on creating divisions in Mt Kenya, but the mountain is firmly behind President Ruto,” he said.
Backing the legislator, Mr Kimathi urged the Meru community to remain united behind the Kenya Kwanza government, saying such unity was crucial if the region hoped to produce a president in the future.
He drummed up support for the “two-term” campaign, arguing that the government needed time to fully implement its development agenda.
“This government is delivering on its promises. The projects initiated under Kenya Kwanza are commendable and the President must be given time to complete what he started,” said Kimathi.
He cautioned residents against being lured into opposition politics, claiming frequent political disruptions would derail development.
According to Mr Kimathi, President Ruto was focused on implementing his agenda and should not be distracted by what he described as an opposition without a national vision.
“The President needs space to deliver because constant political distractions do not help wananchi,” he said.
Education featured prominently during the event, with MP Aburi highlighting improvements in learning standards across Tigania East.
He said the donation of the school bus was part of a broader effort to support education and enhance academic performance in the constituency.
“Education standards in this constituency have gone up. We will continue supporting schools with infrastructure and learning materials to boost performance,” said Mpuru.
The legislator further pledged to ensure that no child drops out of school due to poverty, promising continued support for needy learners through bursaries and other education programmes.
“We will make sure every child accesses education. No child should miss school because of lack of fees or basic learning materials,” he said.
The schools administration and students however welcomed the school bus donation, terming it a major boost to co-curricular activities and student mobility.
