Meru Woman Representative Karambu Kailemia has been ranked third nationally and first in the Central Region in a new survey conducted by the Africa Champions Award International during its 7th Edition.
The awards, themed “Transformative Leadership,” celebrate public figures and institutions that have enriched the society but have also paved the way for a more socially, cohesive, inclusive, sustainable and environmentally conscious future with outstanding service and lasting impact in their communities.
“We are thrilled to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Hon Karambu Kailemia for emerging best performing Women’s Representative in Central region and securing position 3 nationally. We would be honoured to have you attend the Awarding Gala and Dinner Ceremony to be held in November 15, 2025 at Pride Inn Paradise hotel in Mombasa,” the poll states.
Speaking after receiving the recognition, Ms Kailemia expressed gratitude to the people of Meru County, dedicating the honour to their continued trust and support.
Ms Kailemia said the award was a testament to the collective spirit of the Meru people and their shared vision for progress.
“I am deeply humbled and grateful to be recognized at the 7th Edition of the Africa Champions Awards International as the Best Performing Women’s Representative in the Central Region and Position 3 Nationally. This award is a testament to the collective effort of the people of Meru County. Your trust, support, and partnership continue to inspire my dedication to service. Together, we are proving that transformative leadership is not just about holding office, but about impacting lives, empowering communities, and shaping a sustainable future,” she said.
The Meru legislator thanked the Africa Champions Awards International for the recognition, adding that it reinforced her commitment to advancing development, empowering women and youth, and promoting inclusive leadership.
She pledged to continue prioritising grassroots empowerment initiatives across Meru County, remarking that “the best is yet to come.”
The recognition comes only a month after a Mizani Africa poll placed Ms Kailemia as the most preferred Woman Representative if elections were held today.
The survey revealed that she enjoys a commanding lead with 35.5 per cent voter support, a margin that underscores her strong connection with the electorate.
According to Mizani Africa, “as the incumbent, her track record and dedication to community development continue to earn her strong backing.
Her leadership resonates across the county, inspiring confidence and trust, particularly among women and the youth.
In response to the poll results, Ms Kailemia expressed heartfelt appreciation to Meru residents for their confidence in her leadership.
“My beloved people of Meru, thank you! This poll putting us in the lead is not just about numbers. It’s about you, your faith, your unity, and your hope for a better tomorrow. Together, we are shaping history. Let us march on, hand in hand, until Meru rises to even greater heights,” she said.
Former Woman Representative Florence Kajuju emerged as the second most popular contender, while Felicity Biriri ranked third in the same poll.
