while 512 got promotional letters in common cadre. Another 133 specialist also moved to the next level while 83 others were elevated internally, This brings to a total of 728 health workers who have so far been promoted,” said governor Mutuma.

As the discussion were progressing many
candidates were anxiously waiting for news of their promotion with only the qualified candidates getting the cut.
The move comes barely a few hours after the medical team threatened to go on strike.
Governor Mutuma said he held the meeting to get first hand information from the high level delegation.
“I know its a moment of tension especially those who have served for long period. I acknowledge you work under tight conditions. We shall do all it takes to reciprocate for your work,” assured the governor.
In response, the health workers applauded the gesture noting it is the second time the County boss had acted on their demand.

They expressed optimism that things will get better and promised to reciprocate by offering better services since morale will be high.
Governor Mutuma said he values and rewards sacrifices unlike his predecessors.
“Others have lied. Take the word of governor as true. We always communicate and
I wouldn’t want to work with a government with pressure mounting.
We can’t provide services when we ourselves are unhealthy. I want you to serve while in a good state of health,” said Mutuma.
He emphasized that he values their commitment and promised to restore the lost glory of the workers.
The governor regretted that the health workers have been cheated by so many that they now believe everybody is a liar.
“Am a truthful man. Continue persisting until we get more workers promoted. I can’t stop the promotion since the pressure is always on me. We want to increase the workers in order to lessen the burden,” emphasized the governor.

He called on the health workers to be the defenders of the government since they know want kind of person he is.
“Nurses working in Meru County love their job due to the prevailing conducive environment. You work and deliver despite the circumstances,” he said.
Mutuma urged the health workers to be trustful, humane, friendly and promised to streamline the sector in a bid to ensure everything works.
