MAFA Academy from Isiolo and MCF Starlets from Machakos will carry the Eastern Region’s hopes to the Safaricom Chapa Dimba national finals after emerging champions in the boys’ and girls’ categories respectively.
MAFA Academy secured the boys’ title after an emphatic 8-0 victory over Mikinduri Rock-Star, while MCF Starlets overcame hosts Manyatta Royal Queens 3-1 in the girls’ final.
The two sides attributed their success to preparation, discipline and composure, saying their performances were the result of months of hard work and determination.
MAFA coach Ibrahim Abdisalan said the team’s victory was built on two years of preparation, with the players maintaining disciplined possession and showing ruthlessness in front of goal.
“We have prepared for this for two years. The boys have been disciplined and today they showed what they are capable of,” Abdisalan said.
MCF Starlets coach Abednego Matata attributed their triumph to preparation and composure, saying the players remained focused despite facing strong home support for the hosts.
He said the team’s ability to remain calm and execute its game plan helped them secure the regional title.
The victories booked the two teams places at the national finals, where they will face champions from other regions in the battle for national honours.
Each regional champion received Sh250,000, while players also earned individual prizes, including smartphones.
The Eastern Region has produced several Chapa Dimba champions in previous editions.
Mwingi Junior Academy and Ngakaa won the boys’ and girls’ titles respectively in 2018, while Super Solico and St Mary’s Ndovea were the 2019 champions.
Tumaini School and Isiolo Starlets took the honours in 2020, while Chuka University Scorpions and Syomunyu Secondary emerged champions in 2023.
The latest victories by MAFA Academy and MCF Starlets now give the region new representatives to the national finals, with both sides seeking to emulate previous Eastern champions on the national stage.
