Meru Central branch Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Executive Secretary Caxton Miungi has set aside his political ambitions and stepped down to pave way for the nomination exercise of the Party of the National Unity (PNU).
The “decision” that caught many of his fan base unawares in the KNUT fraternity is expected to be discussed in a round table before the final decision is inevitably made.
Miungi is still the bonafide Meru Central branch KNUT official and can only resign if he decides later before the 2027 general election.

After stepping aside, Miungi is expected to hold a closed day forum with PNU officials to enable them look for an amicable solution.
“PNU’s Caxton Miungi who is also the secretary General KNUT Meru branch has stepped down from his senatorial ambition bid and paved way for Pius Mutua. Miungi was also vying and has been on a campaign trail for the Meru County PNU position,” said one of his supporters in a post in the social media.
The supporters said Miungi has already taken over the position of the party’s county chairperson following deliberations.
Dick Mwirigi encouraged leaders and residents to always plan to contest for either erected or nominited seat insisting that only those in such positions currently have a chance to be picked in case of a vacancy.
He urged residents to join registered party adding that only those in the position currently have a chance to be considered.
“Only those in the anticipated party nomination exercise position stands a chance to be picked,”

“Take “this to the nearest bank and withdraw it after some few months…..You will get the real shares……,” Mwiti challenged.
