Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has returned to Meru county after just four days with more development projects.
He makes a comeback to Meru just a day before former deputy President Rigathi Gachaguas three day visit to the county.
On Monday Kindiki was in North Imenti constituency to access the progress of Meru Level Five Hospital that is being upgraded into a Level 6.
Kindiki said they will build several markets in Meru county.
He said the markets are under the Economic Stimulus Project (ESP).
Kindiki said the markets will be build in Kianjai,Mikinduri,Maua,Mutuati,Laare and Nkubu.
He said the markets will range from Sh.300 million to Sh.350 million.
He spoke on Thursday at Kianjai market,Tigania West constituency Meru county.
Kindiki said Kianjai market that is almost complete will cost Sh.305 million.
“The market will be ready in two months. We want the traders and farmers to be able to sell their produce in a good conducive environment,” Kindiki said.
The Deputy president said the markets will use local residents as labourers and also source local building materials.
“We want our youths to get casual jobs so that they can stop vices like drug abuse and others,” Kindiki said.
Kindiki said the market will be friendly to young mothers as it will have lactating rooms and also day care.
Kindiki said that all road projects that had stalled for 6 to 7 years will be revived.
He said they have paid all contractors Sh.177 billion of pending.
“In a fortnight, I will be bringing the contractor to Tigania West,” Kindiki said.
The DP said Sh.39 billion for roads alone has been set aside.
Kindiki who often referred to himself as ‘Fireman’ said he will revive Kianjai-Kirindine-Mikinduri, Kianjai-Miathene-Mikinduri, and St Anne’s-Kunene-Kagaene- Miomponi and Muriri- Isiolo road projects.
He urged residents to give the government more time to complete the road projects.
He said the government will release another sh.3.7 billion for additional road projects in Meru town and will release Sh 2.3 billion to connect 27000 houses with rural electrification projects in Meru county.
Kindiki said they will add another electricity substation in Nyambene to prevent black outs at a cost of Sh 337 million.
The Deputy President said such development projects are the ones that they will use with President William Ruto to seek reelection.
“Those leaders who are going round with all manner of propaganda,rhetorics, hate speech and hypocritical statements let them know people look for what development you deliver at the end of the day not mere words,” Kindiki said.
Kindiki said as a Njuri Ncheke elder he has forgiven all his political nemesis.
However he urged leaders to respect him and other leaders and not to engage in insults.
Kindiki said such leaders should say what they did for their people when they were in power.
He was accompanied by MPs John Mutunga (Tigania West) Dan Kiili ( Igembe Central),Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East) and several MCAs
Kindiki said they will deliver all campaign pledges they promised in 2022.
John Mutunga said he is optimistic that the government will deliver developmental projects to residents of his constituency.
“I want to lobby for more rural electrification projects and also more road project like Kamoja road and Kamarima-Mukui road,” Mutunga said.
Aburi said Meru should stick with President William Ruto as he is the only one who has picked his deputy from the larger Meru.
Similar sentiments were echoed by Kiili who urged Kindiki to also look to hasten the road projects in his constituency so that residents support President Ruto’s reelection in 2027.
