Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has dismissed leaders in the united opposition as ineffective and accused them of lacking a development record, while urging Meru residents to support the re-election of President William Ruto.
Speaking in Makutano in North Imenti Constituency, Meru County, Kindiki said the difference between the Kenya Kwanza administration and the opposition was “like day and night,” accusing opposition leaders of making “unnecessary noise” instead of focusing on development.
“The difference between us and the opposition leaders is like day and night. They are here making unnecessary noise, insulting and disturbing the people of Meru,” said Kindiki.

The Deputy President criticized former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who have been touring Meru County for the past three days, saying they failed to deliver projects during their time in senior government positions.
“When they were in government they never lobbied or championed a single project for this region,” Kindiki said.
“When you were Deputy President, you fought the President instead of working for the people, that is the reason you were impeached. You are a failure.” Kindiki added.
Kindiki said his leadership experience, including serving as a two-term Senator, Senate Speaker, Cabinet Secretary for Interior and now Deputy President, had equipped him to serve the country effectively.
“I have experience being a Senator for two terms, Speaker, Interior Cabinet Secretary and now Deputy President. You were just a one-term MP and then Deputy President but you failed terribly in your roles,” he said.
He warned Gachagua against what he termed persistent attacks directed at him, saying he was ready to confront him politically.
“I will deal with you, I will square it out with you,” Kindiki said.
The Deputy President also dismissed the opposition’s hopes of winning the presidency in the next general election, saying the current administration has a clear development agenda while its rivals do not.

Kindiki urged residents to back President Ruto’s re-election bid, saying the Kenya Kwanza administration needs another term to complete its development programmes.
He also indicated that he intends to run for the presidency after Ruto completes his constitutionally allowed two terms in office.
Kindiki was accompanied by Meru Governor Isaac Mutuma, Deputy Governor Linda Kiome, and Members of Parliament Rahim Dawood (North Imenti), Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East), Dan Kiili (Igembe Central), John Paul Mwirigi (Igembe South), Julius Taitumu (Igembe North) and nominated MP Dorothy Muthoni.
The leaders pledged their support for President Ruto and Kindiki’s re-election ahead of the next general election.
