Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has launched a scathing attack on opposition leaders, accusing them of engaging in empty rhetoric while lacking practical ideas to steer the country forward.
Kindiki said the Kenya Kwanza administration remains focused on transforming lives and livelihoods, particularly for the youth, even as its critics allegedly concentrate on political grandstanding and incitement.
The Deputy President spoke in Naivasha Constituency, Nakuru County, where he presided over the issuance of title deeds to 105 victims of the Maai Mahiu floods and oversaw the disbursement of Sh3.2 million in compensation to affected families.
He was accompanied by Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika, Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome, Lands Principal Secretary Nixon Korir and several Members of the County Assembly from Nakuru.
The DP further accused the
opposition of being enemies of development and intent on sabotaging the Kenya Kwanza government’s programmes.
“We are telling our opponents that there is a difference between inciting people for political gain and resolving the challenges affecting the citizens of our republic because empty rhetoric cannot resolve people’s problems,” said the Deputy President.
He faulted some leaders for what he termed as habitual political posturing instead of offering workable solutions to challenges facing Kenyans.
According to Prof. Kindiki, the government is committed to empowering young people through job creation initiatives and economic programmes designed to uplift communities across the country.
“Some politicians see young people as goons, hecklers, bloggers and mere voters but this government sees young people as critical to the growth of our society and that is why we are getting them jobs through various programmes,” he said.
He maintained that the administration cares for all Kenyans youth, women and men determined to improve their living standards through deliberate policy interventions.
“I have no doubt that president William Ruto government cares about the youth, women and men and everyone in society and is keen to improve their lives,” he added.
He further accused the opposition of exploiting young people for political expediency.
“Our opponents are used to cheap talk and exploiting the youth for their own misguided political agenda. Talk is cheap, action is harder,” He added.
He urged leaders across the political divide to prioritise service delivery over divisive politics, saying development should not be sacrificed at the altar of partisan interests.
“As leaders, we must choose between playing politics with people’s pain and working to solve their problems. This government has chosen action,” he said.
The issuance of title deeds to the flood victims marked a significant milestone for families who lost homes and property following the devastating Maai Mahiu tragedy.
The compensation package is expected to cushion affected households as they rebuild their lives.
