A Meru politician, Beatrice Karwitha, has dismissed allegations that her political career has been built on seeking favours from male colleagues, terming the claims as unfounded and misleading.

In a press statement responding to remarks by aspiring Meru Woman Representative Nkirote Biriri, Karwitha defended her professional record and maintained that her political support and government engagement are anchored on merit and public trust.

She said suggestions that her rise in leadership was driven by personal favours were “disconnected from reality” and an insult to the intelligence of Meru residents.

According to Karwitha, her collaborations with both male and female leaders are guided by the need to deliver tangible development for the county rather than personal convenience.

“My support for this government is not a product of favours but of the trust the people have placed in me,” she stated, adding that her work has consistently been grounded in professionalism rather than patronage.

Karwitha, who works in the office of the Deputy President Kithure Kindiki also rejected claims that she works against women leaders in Meru, describing herself as a beneficiary and champion of women empowerment.

She said her leadership journey has focused on dismantling barriers facing women rather than creating new ones.

“To be a woman in leadership is to understand the unique challenges we face,” she noted, adding that she has supported gender equality initiatives and mentored upcoming leaders.

On allegations of personal hostility towards Biriri, Karwitha said political competition should not be reduced to personal attacks.

She maintained that disagreement in politics does not amount to hatred and emphasized her focus on development over personal disputes.

Karwitha called on leaders to shift attention from accusations to service delivery, urging unity in advancing Meru County’s development agenda.

She emphasized her willingness to work with all leaders committed to the county’s progress.
