Meru Governor Mutuma M’Ethingia now has a full cabinet after Joy Karwitha Kiugu took oath of office on Tuesday.

Karwitha is now in charge of Lands, Physical Planning, Urban Development, and Public Works department.

She was sworn in shortly after the county assembly approved her nomination during the morning sitting.

“Joy Karwitha Kiugu brings with her a blend of professional expertise and commitment to public service. The future of urban planning, land reforms, and infrastructure in our county is now in capable hands,” Governor M’Ethingia said.

Ms. Kiugu expressed gratitude and a deep sense of duty upon taking the oath, stating:
“I am honored to serve the people of Meru. I pledge to uphold integrity, fairness, and transparency in the management of land resources, physical planning, and the development of livable, inclusive urban spaces.”

The Lands, Urban Development, and Public Works docket is seen as a cornerstone in the governor’s administration, with key priorities including streamlining land administration, advancing infrastructure projects, and guiding sustainable urban growth.

With all cabinet positions now filled, Governor M’Ethingia’s team is fully equipped to implement its strategic vision and deliver on promises made to the people of Meru.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the county headquarters, was attended by county officials, members of the County Assembly and the public.
