Police in Meru have recovered 80 mobile phones, four laptops and tools believed to be used in dismantling stolen phones for spare parts following a dawn ambush operation.
The items, including a soldering gun and a hot air blower, were recovered during an operation led by Imenti North Police Commander Ambrose Kyalo.

“The recovery followed an incident reported last night, after which the suspect led our officers to a premises where the stolen phones, laptops and dismantling tools were found,” said Kyalo.
Four suspects have been arrested and are currently being held at Meru Central Police Station as investigations continue.
Among those in custody is a minor, whom police say is the main suspect in several phone snatching incidents reported around Makutano, Gakoromone, Gitimbine and Meru town environs.
Kyalo advised members of the public to remain cautious, especially during late hours.
“We urge members of the public to remain vigilant, avoid deserted routes and promptly report stolen phones and other valuables to aid faster recovery,” he added.
Residents who have lost mobile phones or laptops in Meru town, Makutano and surrounding areas have been advised to visit Meru Central Police Station with proof of ownership to reclaim their recovered items.
