Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has strongly criticized opposition leaders for politicizing the health of ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking on Monday 13th,in Alego Usonga, Siaya County during a Resource Mobilization event for Boda Boda Saccos, the DP terming it as cheap politics he added it was shameful and in human. to politicize the health of a respected national leader.
Speaking Kindiki revealed that he had spoken to Raila and assured the public the veteran politician is well and resting.
“Mzee Raila Odinga is safe and healthy. Those wishing him ill are not good people. It is against African tradition to wish even your worst enemy ill,” said Prof. Kindiki.
The event was hosted by Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga and attended by several leaders including Governor James Orengo.
“He has welcomed us to Siaya and he will be back soon to face those who wished him bad,” he added.

Unity Under Broad-Based Government
The Deputy President reiterated the government’s commitment to national development under the broad-based governance model, stating that all regions would benefit regardless of political or ethnic affiliations.
“We respect our leaders. President Ruto is working with Mr. Odinga and others. We are following them because the future of Kenya is broad-based,” he said.
He hailed Governor Orengo for his commitment and readiness to work with the national government for Siaya’s development.
Billions Pumped into Siaya
Prof. Kindiki highlighted Siaya County as one of the biggest beneficiaries of government investments under the broad-based arrangement:
He noted Sh3.1 billion has been injected into fish landing sites and infrastructure across the Lake Victoria counties including Siaya, Migori, Homa Bay, Kisumu, and Busia.
He further said 25 modern markets are being constructed across the county in towns such as Siaya, Usenge, Yala, Bondo, and Ukwala.
“A total of Sh35 billion has been allocated for institutional and affordable housing, and modern market infrastructure making Siaya a top recipient of the Ruto administration’s affordable housing program,” said the DP.

Addressing the crowd he at the same time noted sh1.5 billion has been set aside for last-mile electricity connections to benefit over 16,200 households in Siaya.
“The Siaya Stadium is undergoing a major facelift at a cost of Sh550 million, aimed at upgrading it to international standards remember no other government has invested this heavily in the blue economy of the Lake Victoria and Coastal regions like Ruto’s government,” Prof. Kindiki said.
SHA Registration Drive
The DP also urged locals to continue enrolling in the Social Health Authority (SHA) medical cover noting so far, 430,000 residents have registered out of Siaya’s 995,000 population.
“We want every household covered. This is how we build a healthier, stronger Kenya,” he emphasized.
