Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has strongly criticized the opposition leaders, accusing them of destabilizing the country through what he termed as “empty rhetoric” and incitement.

Speaking during an economic empowerment forum at Olooltepes in Kajiado West Constituency, Kindiki said Kenya cannot afford to be held hostage by divisive politics and violence.

“We must stop violence, tribalism, and chaos for the country to move forward. The progress of this nation can only be realized through unity and focused development,” said Kindiki.

The DP blamed the recent destruction of property and loss of life on opposition led protests, which he described as politically motivated and detrimental to national cohesion.

Kindiki urged Kenyans to reject leaders who sow seeds of hate, emphasizing that the Kenya Kwanza administration is committed to lifting the lives of ordinary citizens through its ambitious development agenda.

During the event, Kindiki outlined key projects under the Kenya Kwanza manifesto being rolled out in Kajiado and across the country.

He revealed that over 400 fresh produce markets are being constructed nationwide, with 14 markets earmarked for Kajiado County which include markets in Namanga, Bisil, Rongai, Kitengela, Kiserian, and Kimana.

In a boost to the education sector, Kindiki announced that the government will build affordable student hostels for technical and higher learning institutions.

Kindiki noted among the beneficiaries is Kajiado West Technical Training Institute, which will receive 340 units worth Ksh 165 million, as well as Maasai TTI and other local colleges.

He added that the government is implementing transformative programmes aimed at spurring economic growth and employment citing Overseas Jobs initiative, ICT Hubs, Climate WorX Program and professional recruitment in key sector among others.

The Deputy President reassured residents that the government has fulfilled its promise to recarpet the Ngong–Suswa road, significantly improving transport between Kajiado and Naivasha.

On electricity access, the DP said that Ksh 700 million has been allocated for Last Mile Connectivity in Kajiado County, targeting 4,000 new households.

Kajiado West Constituency alone will benefit from Ksh 125 million of that allocation.

He further urged residents to register with the Social Health Authority (SHA), noting that 500,000 out of 1.1 million Kajiado residents have enrolled so far.

He noted that nationally, 24.7 million Kenyans have registered with the new health scheme, with the target being 50 million.

“Social health protection is not a privilege, it is a right. Let us all take part in this national journey,” Kindiki said.

The event was attended by top national and regional leaders, among them Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, Defence CS Soipan Tuya, and parliamentary majority leaders Kimani Ichung’wah and Aaron Cheruiyot.

Also present were MPs and MCAs from Kajiado and other regions, including Leah Sankaire (Kajiado County), George Sunkuyia (Kajiado West), Nelson Koech (Belgut), and Sabina Chege (Nominated).

Former leaders such as Peter Mositet and Moses Ole Sakuda also graced the occasion.
