Meru MPs have strongly warned the Orange Democratic Movement party against targeting the seat of the Deputy President and declared that the position is not vacant.
They advised ODM party to tread carefully in its political ambitions ahead of the anticipated coalitions negotiations.
Speaking at Riiji coffee factory in Imenti Central constituency during an empowerment program, the lawmakers said the DP position is not vacant, not negotiable and that it is a no go zone.

Led by Laikipia East MP Mwangi Kiunjuri they said they shall safeguard the DP position at all cost and cautioned newcomers against salivating for it.
Kiunjuri challenged the Mount Kenya region to come out in large numbers and reelect President William Ruto and his deputy Prof. Kithure Kindiki since it’s the safest and best way of securing the seat.
“Let safeguard the DP seat at all cost. I urge Mount Kenya region voters to come out in large numbers and reelect President William Ruto and his deputy Prof. Kithure Kindiki. This is the safest and best way of securing the DP seat. Let take advantage of the infighting in ODM and prepare in advance by uniting and speaking in one voice. Newcomers should keep off and stop dictating to us,” said Kiunjuri.

Nominated MP Dorothy Muthoni said the DP position is not vacant and won’t be vacated noting that it is a no go zone.
She said Mount Kenya region will unite and protect the DP seat without any fear vowing that women will be in the forefront of protecting the seat.
“We will stand with Prof. Kindiki to the bitter end. Other parties are welcome but they should forget the DP seat. The DP position is not vacant, won’t be vacated and it is a no go zone,” said MP Muthoni.
Igembi South MP John Paul Mwirigi said those tarnishing Kindiki name did the same thing to President Ruto when he was the deputy president.
He said the DP seat is not vacant noting that it has a 10 year contract which must be respected.
“It was only vacant when the former DP Rigathi Gachagua was impeached. The ODM should forget it because it is not negotiable. ODM always find an excuse when they want to bolt out. As newcomers they should not dictate to us what they want,” said Mwirigi.
Central Imenti MP Kirima Nguchine declared his support for Deputy President Kindiki, calling on the Meru community to rally behind his leadership.

Nguchine dismissed recent remarks by Mithika Linturi suggesting a divide between Tharaka and Meru.
Nguchine maintained that Tharaka and Meru are one people with shared history and cultural ties, stressing that unity is key to the region’s political and economic progress.
He said it’s a favour to have the DP’s seat.
“Let us not allow to loose it through divisions since other regions are also interested. We should safeguard it at all cost by staying united. Am calling on Kenyans to reelect President Ruto for a second and final term.
We welcome everyone in the government, but newcomers should not dictate to us. They should instead accept whatever is on offer. The DP position is not vacant and it’s not negotiable,” said MP Nguchine.
