Leaders from Meru County have endorsed Nominated MP Dorothy Muthoni’s bid for the Senate seat in the 2027 General Election, rallying behind her during an empowerment fundraising forum held at Katheri East in Imenti Central.
The event, organised by Muthoni, brought together key political figures including MPs Mwangi Kiunjuri, John Mutunga and Kirima Ngushine, who publicly declared their support for her Senate ambition.

Leaders and residents raised about Sh2 million to support community-based groups.
Kiunjuri said Muthoni’s presence has been felt across the county, describing her as accessible and committed to development initiatives.
“I have met Muthoni in every part of Meru I have walked. She is very generous and a great giver.
She always pushes for development and constantly calls me back to Meru to support initiatives,” he said.
Mutunga noted that despite being a nominated MP, Muthoni has actively pursued development projects and empowerment programmes throughout the region.
“Muthoni is only nominated but she goes to every office to champion development. We have walked the path with her across all the five wards in Tigania West and the whole of Tigania has declared that she is the next Senator,” Mutunga said.

He added that the leaders are advancing an economic empowerment approach focused on grassroots groups.
“Good leaders empower people to transform their lives. We are championing the bottom-up economic empowerment model by uplifting the lowly through injecting funds into CBOs,” he said.
The MPs linked the empowerment drive to the development agenda of William Ruto, whom Muthoni supports.
Addressing residents, Muthoni formally declared her intention to contest the Senate seat.
“It is no longer rumours. I am in the race for Senator. I have declared to be different and to represent you in the Senate,” she said.
She reaffirmed her allegiance to the United Democratic Alliance and urged unity in the Mt Kenya region.
“Mt Kenya should speak in one voice. We must unite and defend our leadership,” she said, adding that leaders from the region would stand firm in support of Kithure Kindiki.
Ngushine said Muthoni’s track record demonstrates her readiness to strengthen oversight and representation at the Senate.
“Muthoni has been a great MP. If she is elected Senator, she will liberate the county. She comes from here and understands the needs of the people,” he said, urging residents to rally behind her.
Leaders said the empowerment programmes highlighted at the event include support for table banking groups, tent-hiring enterprises and poultry rearing projects.
They emphasised that funds disbursed to community-based organisations are intended to expand group businesses and improve livelihoods.
