Morocco will face Madagascar in the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) final at Nairobi’s Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, following a dramatic semi-final victory over Senegal.

The Atlas Lions triumphed 5–3 on penalties after a 1–1 draw in regular and extra time on Tuesday night.

Morocco showed perfect composure from the spot, converting all five penalties. Senegal missed one, sealing their exit.

Senegal took the lead through Joseph Layousse’s 16th-minute header, but Morocco hit back just six minutes later with a sharp finish from Sabir Bougrine.

A controversial moment in the second half saw Moroccan defender Marouane Louadni initially sent off, but a VAR review downgraded the red card to a yellow, allowing Morocco to continue with a full squad.

Senegal dominated possession and created several opportunities but couldn’t break down Morocco’s disciplined defence late on.

Meanwhile, Madagascar made history by reaching their first-ever CHAN final after a gritty 1–0 extra-time win over Sudan in Dar es Salaam.

LRakotondramanana scored the decisive goal in a tightly contested semi-final, underlining Madagascar’s tactical edge in the knockout stages.

The upcoming final on Saturday, August 30, 2025, promises a mix of emotions for Kenyan fans.

Morocco was beaten by Kenya in the group stage, while Madagascar ended Kenya’s campaign in the quarter-finals via penalties.

Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM EAT at Kasarani Stadium.
