A section of Tharaka Nithi leaders and Njuri Ncheke council of elders now want interior cabinet secretary Kithure Kindiki to vie for presidency come 2032.
Led by Tharaka Nithi Senator Mwenda Gataya, Chuka Igamba Ng’ombe MP Patrick Munene and his Tharaka counterpart Gitonga Muragara, the leaders yesterday said Kindiki will be best suited to take over the mantle after President William Ruto retires from office in 2032.
Speaking at Kaanwa Catholic church in Chuka Igamba-Ng’ombe, the senator said the CS track record, has proved to be the most suitable leaders Kenyans can trust on running the top office.
He called for unity of Mt Kenya East saying the unity of the vote rich region will enable them field a candidate after Mr Ruto tenure expires .
They added for the region to feature in the national map, they need to have a unity of purpose to secure a bigger political seat come .
“Prof Kindiki has been ranked the best performing CS because he has served the country selfishly and diligently. We are behold doubt that he is equal to the task we just pray for him because we can see his star is very bright,” said Chuka Igamba ng’ombe law maker
At the same time he called on Tharaka Nithi leaders to unite and embrace a party that they can use as a political vehicle to increase their bargaining power and a share of the national cake
His sentiments were also backed by a section of legislators and Members of Tharaka Nithi County assembly who expressed confidence that the former Tharaka Nithi senator will carry the flag of the nation when right time comes .
Recently at Igoji In Imenti south ,a veteran politicians and former Meru county governor Kiraitu Murungi also called on Njuri Ncheke council of elders to fast track the installation of the CS as the region spoke person .
Speaking on phone, the national vice chairman of the Ameru Njuri Ncheke supreme council of Elders Alfonce Kamwara said Kindiki is the best fit for the job.
He added the Njuri Ncheke council of elders from the three counties including Isiolo county saw the potential in him and installed him as the Ameru community spoke person in 2015.
“I think we are in the right direction although to us he is still our spokesperson. We don’t have an objection to installing him again as the larger region kingpin because all that he needs is our blessing to carry on and serve the nation and the region because we are seeing his star shining brighter after President William Ruto retires from office,” Kamwara noted.
The Interior cabinet ,did his first degree in law at Moi University before he joined the university of Pretoria in South where he became the youngest and second Kenyan to earn a doctor in Philosophy (PHD) in the legal professional in 2003.
According to his father, Daniel Kindiki ,the CS grew up as humble ,obedient and hard working child who was never pushed to do any assignment .
Kindiki ,political career oiled up in 2013 after he was elected the first Senator for Tharaka Nithi county and served as the majority leader in the Senate and in 2017, he was re-elected and became the deputy speaker before he lost the latter position due to factional disputes within the then ruling Jubilee coalition.
In the 2022 general election, Prof Kindiki didn’t seek any elective post opting instead to concentrate on the presidential campaign for Kenya Kwanza coalition.
He was earmarked as the possible running mate for president William Ruto before they settled on current Deputy Rigathi Gachagua.
Prof Kindiki has been ranked the best performing CS in the country after putting much effort to eradicate the perennial banditry menace in the country .
However Kindiki could be the next man to watch in Mt.Kenya region after several leaders and Njuri Ncheke elders came out to front him for the regional Kingpin.
Recently, a section of legislators from Meru county let by Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi endorsed him at Chaaria in Imenti central to be the region spoke person .
As his political star continues to shine, his father expressed confidence that his son is equal to the task, lauding him for the good job he is doing for Kenyans .
‘We are happy because he his serving Kenyans and the country in the best way. We urge him to always fear God as he execute his duties. Put the interest of people first and work diligently and within the law,”said Rev Daniel Kindiki.
