Interior cabinet secretary Kithure Kindiki has affirmed that his ministry has trained 140 National Police Reservist (NPR ) to help eradicate cattle rustling along Meru and Isiolo counties border.

Speaking during an Eastern region security meeting today at Antubetwe Ekiongo in Iaare Igembe North ,after more than 300 livestock were stolen last week ,the CS said the government has reviewed new security measures to fight the perennial banditry attacks in the area .

‘ We have gone out of our way to take new measures to eradicate cattle rustling in the region we have trained and equipped 140 NPK, deployed more general police officers and opened another Anti stock theft unit who together will assist us in fighting these bloody criminals and very soon we are winning this war because we have sealed all the lopeholes of the bandits ,” said Kindiki .

The CS also called on members of the public to volunteer information to security officers to help the police succeed in the war that has lead to many deaths and lost of livestock in the region .

“ Sometimes these criminals have won but we are telling them their days are numbered Kenya must win against bandits yes police officers have been killed and injured in the attacks by these armed criminals but we are telling them we have come up with new pre – emptive strategies and on this we are winning ,” he added.

He at the same warned politicians against interfering with war against cattle rustling adding anybody found inciting residents and protecting the criminals will fully face full force of the law .

The tough talking CS blamed a section of politicians of politicking the issue in a move to hider effective exercise to end the menace .

“ We will not tolerate anybody irrespective of your political status or party but will deal with you ruthlessly and mercilessly if found interfering with this war and we have instructed all security team to monitor and report them,” he added

Kindiki further added that they will increase more administrative units in the region and employ more administrate officers in the locations and divisions to help reduce insecurity issues in the area.
