Parents and guardians have been advised not to shy off taking their students to universities despite the hard economic times.
The call comes as universities continue to make new admission for first year students.
Karatina University Vice Chancellor Prof. Linus Muthuri Gitonga said universities have a directive from the government to ensure all students are admitted and remain in class.
“There is nothing new in the new funding method. It has undergone small changes. There is also minimal additional funding that have generated discussions” said Prof. Gitonga.
He also assured parents that many of the students being admitted this year have been enrolled in the institutions without paying anything irrespective of their band.
“We had a meeting with the President few days ago and we are under instructions to register all students. We trust that the government and the universities will have sustainable plans,” he noted.
Prof. Gitonga spoke at Mitunguu Cultural Centre during a Njurincheke meeting with South Imenti Primary school heads to plan and strategize on improving CBC education learning,
While addressing the conservation issue, the Karatina University VC called on the community also to embrace preservation, conservation and protection of culture, heritage and natural resources.
