North Imenti MP Rahim Dawood has welcomed the nomination of Interior CS Kithure Kindiki as Deputy President to take over from Rigathi Gachagua who was impeached.

Dawood praised Kindiki whom he described as a hard working and a dedicated leader.

“This appointment is a reflection of your unwavering dedication, exemplary leadership, and the trust that the nation has placed in your abilities,” Dawood said.

He added, “Kindiki’s journey of service, integrity and commitment to the people of Kenya has led to this remarkable achievement, and we are confident that under the leadership of President, William Ruto, together with you, our country will continue to prosper and grow.”

“I wish you great success, wisdom, and strength as you embark on this new chapter, guiding Kenya towards a brighter and more united future,” he said.

Kindiki, who is Interior CS was nominated after former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was impeached by Senate on Thursday night.

Later, 236 MPs voted to approve the nomination paving way for Kindiki’s swearing in.

However, high court Judge Chacha Mwita issued conservatory orders stopping the replacement of Gachagua.

Kindiki has served as Tharaka Nithi senator for two terms in which he was deputy speaker and Senate majority leader.

Kindiki was also instrumental in defending President Ruto at the ICC since he is a reknown international law counsel.
