The National assembly budget committee has reaffirmed that the budget will be ‘mwananchi’ tailored.
Igembe South MP John Paul Mwirigi said the move is aimed at prioritizing the need of citizens.
“We want to listen to the people and hear their views, what they want done or adjusted and be aligned to their priorities. They have proposed health especially on improvement of facilities, agriculture and infrastructure,” said the MP.
Mr Mwirigi is leading a delegation of the National Assembly budget committee to the counties for a public participation.
On agriculture, the emerging issues expressed were need for value addition for various crops, which should be established at the counties to increase earnings.
“Some of the concerns raised by the residents are on improvement of breeds to better the dairy sector. We will ensure more funds are allocated as per their needs,” said Mwirigi.
Completion of stalled road projects from the previous regime has also been captured by the committee as a matter of urgency.
He spoke in Tharaka Nithi during the public participation where he assured residents that all their views will be factored in the budget.
