A Renowned Kenyan scholar and anti-corruption crusader, Professor PLO Lumumba addressed a captivated crowd of youth who thronged the Meru National Polytechnic to listen to his keynote speech.
Prof Lumumba delivered a powerful message on the state of Kenya’s governance and urged the youth to always embrace integrity and good governance.
Speaking passionately to a group of engaged students, Lumumba said poor governance is the greatest challenge currently facing the country and urged the youth to take an active role in shaping the country future.
He advised voters to always give priority to personal values over ethnicity when electing leaders.

He said the quality of leadership should be determined by integrity and accountability and not political connections or tribal affiliations.
“When we vote, let us look at the character and values of the individual, not where they come from,” he stated.
Addressing the deep-rooted issue of ethnic politics, Lumumba called for a merit-based approach in government appointments.
He stressed the importance of selecting individuals based on qualifications and capability, rather than political patronage.
“We must build a society where meritocracy, not political favoritism, determines appointments,” said Lumumba.
He urged the youth to demand leadership that upholds such noble principles.
The message resonated deeply with the audience, sparking a renewed sense of hope and responsibility among the young people present.
Lumumba’s call for leadership rooted in integrity and accountability was a call to action for the youth to rise above the divisive forces of ethnicity and be the change they want to see in Kenya’s political landscape.
As the country approaches its future elections, Lumumba’s words have ignited a crucial conversation about the importance of values in leadership.
Lumumba inspired the youth to hold their leaders to a higher standard of integrity and service to the nation.
