The Okolea program will resume once the ongoing construction of a storey building to house its operations is complete.

Okolea program is a philanthropic initiative founded and run by Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza under her Baite Family Fellowship Church Foundation.

Pastor Phineas Murithi told believers during Governor Mwangaza’s husband graduation ceremony that the initiative will kick off soon after being suspended for close to a year.

Murega graduated with a Bachelors degree in Transformational Church Leadership at PAC University. Some of the beneficiaries of the Okolea programme get blankets, mattresses, cows, goats, and other she builds them houses.

Murithi said the building, which is being spearheaded by Baite Family Fellowship Church, will host a hospital, a Secondary school and other offices.

“We halted Okolea because of the ongoing construction of a church, a school and hospital project. Once the building is complete Okolea will resume with a bang.

You are aware we had a school that also closed, keep praying, we aspire to restore it,” Murithi told the congregation.

Okolea has faced criticism and was at one time suspended by the government due to rising political feuds in the county.

This is after Governor Mwangaza’s meeting turned chaotic and cows she was to donate were slaughtered at Makiri in Igembe South.

Mwangaza and her husband Murega founded Okolea in 2015 and popularised the initiative through their TV station.

In 2017, the programme propelled her to election as woman rep and later governor.
