Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has called on residents of Mbeere North to elect United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Leonard Wamuthende upcoming by-election, insisting he is the most suitable leader to fast-track the completion of ongoing government projects.
Speaking on Wednesday 19th during campaign rallies in Muthanthara and Kirie, Prof Kindiki assured residents that the government is committed to completing all projects currently underway in the constituency, while commissioning even more to uplift living standards.
He noted that electing a candidate aligned with government would make it easier to secure necessary support and expedite implementation timelines.
“It will be easier for Leo to push the government to complete these projects because he will enjoy the support of all other leaders in Embu and will have an ear of top government officials including our President,” Said the DP.
At the rallies, the DP warned residents against what he described as misguided pressure from opposition figures, claiming they had no concrete agenda for the constituency or the country.

He urged voters to consider the progress made so far and choose leadership that can work hand-in-hand with the national government.
“The opposition has no plan for you. Do not be misled. You have seen the projects we have begun here. We must stay focused on development by electing a leader who can work with the government and opposition,’he said.
Kindiki however urged voters to avoid what he termed as distractions from the opposition saying the constituency’s development agenda was too important to gamble with.
“The development needs of Mbeere North are massive. We can’t afford to play cards with our development again those telling you to join the opposition don’t mean well for you,” DP Said.
Prof Kindiki further added the constituency, which he described as marginalized for years, is now benefitting from transformative projects initiated under President William Ruto’s administration.
The DP outlined key infrastructure developments already being implemented, among them the tarmacking of critical roads including Siakago-Kanyuambora Road, Gikuyari-Ishiara Road, and Kanyuambora-Kamumu Road.
He described the roads as essential in opening up markets, easing movement and boosting the local economy.
He also highlighted ongoing water projects, citing the Sh250 million Kanyuambora Ward Water Project and the Sh150 million Kamata Water Project in Nthawa Ward.
The second in command further noted that a major multi-billion-shilling water supply initiative drawing from Kiambere Dam has already begun, with the first phase funded at Sh1.3 billion.
In addition, Prof Kindiki revealed that the constituency has already received Sh336 million for last-mile electricity connections following his intervention noting the allocation will be doubled to Sh600 million, significantly expanding access to power in more villages.
The DP promised that he would personally monitor implementation of all the projects to ensure timely delivery.
He assured residents that no ongoing development would be abandoned, adding that the government’s commitment to the region is firm.
“The opposition has no plan for you. Do not be misled. You have seen the projects we have begun here. We must stay focused on development,” he said.
The former Interior Cabinet secretary also cautioned politicians against what he termed rising levels of hostility and verbal attacks, saying the trend was unhealthy for democratic competition.
“This habit of insulting elected leaders and the people must come to an end. Those who have perfected it should know their days are numbered. You cannot be threatening everyone and imposing yourself on people who don’t want anything from you,” he warned.

Prof Kindiki reiterated that the government’s priority is to ensure equitable development across all regions and said Mbeere North will continue receiving support.
He encouraged residents to turn out in large numbers during the by-election and cast their votes for a candidate he said would unlock even faster growth.
The by-election is scheduled for next week, with campaigns entering their final stretch as candidates seek to win over undecided voters.
